Second Saturday in June, 3:30-6:30 PM
Old Zion’s annual Strawberry Social, is held on SECOND SATURDAY OF JUNE at Old Zion Church, Reifsnyder Road in Brickerville.
You will enjoy sampling the homemade chicken corn soup, which is made on the premises in a cast iron kettle. Then savor the tastes of homegrown, ripe strawberries combined with cake, ice cream, and whipped topping. A cup of iced tea is included to help you “wash down” this HUGE dessert.
The view of Brubaker Valley from the church’s hillside is simply lovely.
All of the proceeds from the Strawberry Social go toward helping to maintain and preserve quaint Old Zion and its surrounding grounds and cemetery.
Bring your lawn chairs, food trays, and your friends to enjoy a beautiful, old-fashioned summer afternoon.
Second Sunday in September
The Anniversary Service includes a hint into the past where you can experience and imagine Old Zion Church in an 1813 setting. The pump organ sings and the vaulted ceiling carries voices across the Brubaker Valley. The annual service features elements of a German Reformed church service with a historical perspective. Lemonade and cookies are served on the lawn following the service. Please join us for a restorative time of worship and music at Old Zion Church, Brickerville.
DEC. 10 – ATMOSPHERE
Christmas ATMOSPHERE! Old Zion Church, Reifsnyder Rd., Brickerville, PA will be overflowing with the Christmas season’s atmosphere at the annual Carol Sing on Saturday, December 10th. This historic, old church will be lit entirely by both candle and kerosene light; the air will be delightfully crisp; and the sounds of beloved Christmas Carols will ring in our ears and fill our hearts.
This year, the Heritage Chorale will perform special music and will lead the congregation in singing our favorite carols. There are two opportunities to enjoy Old Zion’s Carol Sing. At 2:00 pm the congregation can enjoy the music while watching beautiful winter light filter through the old glass window panes. Then at 4:30 pm the light darkens and the candlelight atmosphere serves to remind us of the 1813 origins of this lovely, original structure.
This opportunity can be yours by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org . Ticket requests up to 6 tickets will be honored until all tickets are given out.
The church remains in its original state from 1813, there is no heat or electricity, which helps remind us of the simple, but beautiful Christmas atmosphere of by-gone days. Remember to dress warmly and bring along a flashlight to guide you back to your car. In the event of bad weather, please double check Old Zion’s website www.oldzionchurch.org . Winter Weather Policy follows. For safety reasons, ice or snow on the ground on Saturday, December 10 will result in a cancellation.
The opportunity to fill your heart and soul with meaningful holiday music and atmosphere is yours. See you December 10.
