Strawberry Social

June 10, 2023

Strawberry Social Serving Station

Old Zion’s annual Strawberry Social, is held on the second Saturday of June at Old Zion Church, Reifsnyder Road in Brickerville.

You will enjoy sampling chicken corn soup.  Then savor the tastes of homegrown, ripe strawberries combined with cake, ice cream, and whipped topping.   A cup of iced tea is included to help you “wash down” this HUGE dessert.

The view of Brubaker Valley from the church’s hillside is simply lovely.

Bring your lawn chairs, food trays, and your friends to enjoy a beautiful, old-fashioned summer afternoon.

All of the proceeds from the Strawberry Social go toward helping to maintain and preserve quaint Old Zion and its surrounding grounds and cemetery.

Anniversary Service

September 10, 2023

The Anniversary Service includes a hint into the past where you can experience and imagine Old Zion Church in an 1813 setting.  The pump organ sings and the vaulted ceiling carries voices across the Brubaker Valley.  The annual service features elements of a German Reformed church service with a historical perspective. Lemonade and cookies are served on the lawn following the service.  Please join us for a restorative time of worship and music at Old Zion Church, Brickerville.

Carol Sing

Two Sessions: 2 PM and 4:30 PM

Wreaths on doorway
Christmas decorations in church

The Carol Sing allows us a brief authentic chance to relive this same long-ago experience.  There is no electricity in the building.  It is important to dress warmly and to bring a flashlight to read the song sheets and to guide you along the pathways to your car.

NOTE: Old Zion Church and grounds are not equipped to handle winter weather.  For safety reasons, ice or snow on the ground on Saturday, December 9 will result in a cancellation of the event.  Please check Old Zion’s website for last-minute event information, www.oldzionchurch.org/events.
